An Armorial Plate From The Wolterbeek Service

Inspired by a 1762 Worcester porcelain design, according to family tradition, this service was given to Dutch governor Constantijn Johan Wolterbeek by the Sultan of Malacca when the British ceded the colony to the Dutch after 23 years of interim rule (see J. Kroes, Chinese Armorial Porcelain for the Dutch Market, pp. 519-520, no. 443). Besides from some normal wear, this plate is in perfect condition. Ca 1818, 25 cm wide.
